KPMG Achieves ??1 Million Mark For Alzheimer's Society Ahead Of Target, UK

KPMG has reached its fundraising target of ??1 million for its staff selected people charity, Alzheimer's Society over one month ahead of schedule with further events still to be held.

In 2008, KPMG staff voted for Alzheimer's Society to be the firm's main charitable focus. Over the past two years, KPMG staff have been involved in a variety of activities to raise funds to help people with dementia, their families and carers.

Offices across the UK have championed the cause through fundraising events, awareness campaigns and volunteering.

John Griffith-Jones, Senior Partner of KPMG in the UK, said:

'This is a terrific result and demonstrates the strength of our people who are the driving force behind our charitable giving. Our people have been the backbone of this campaign allowing us to make a tangible difference on a large scale. I am really proud of what KPMG has done for Alzheimer's Society.'

The highlight of the partnership came this summer, after a marathon nationwide bike ride in which KPMG staff clocked up more than 15,000 miles. 250 partners and staff, their families, plus alumni and clients took part in KPMG's 'Big Blue Bike Ride' to raise more than ??170,000 for Alzheimer's Society.

Alison Halsey, Lead Partner for the charity partnership at KPMG, said:

'I am delighted that KPMG has raised so much, reaching ??1 million is credit to our people's commitment and participation in a variety of activities. Alzheimer's Society has been a great charity partner and our people have really connected with the cause.'

Ruth Sutherland, Interim Chief Executive at Alzheimer's Society, said:

'We are incredibly excited that KPMG has reached the one million pound mark, with a month of fundraising still to come. Alzheimer's Society would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has so enthusiastically championed our cause and helped to spread the word about dementia.

'The support of organisations like KPMG helps us support people to live well with dementia today, and fund research to find a cure for tomorrow. We look forward to our final month of fundraising with KPMG, which I'm sure will also be a great success.'
